Overview
OpenTV Video Platform supports guest entitlements. Guest entitlements allow a user who has entitlements for a channel and entitlements for the guest entitlements capability feature to invite a limited number of guests who do not have entitlements for the channel to watch it for a limited time.
This allows the user to create a guest entitlements room for a channel showing (for example) a football match and invite friends or family to watch it with them. The room has a predefined duration – playout will stop automatically when this time ends and the entitlement expires.
The guest entitlements feature only applies to live TV.
Prerequisites
For guest entitlements to work in a client application, the following must already be in place:
-
The Guest Entitlement Service (GES) must be deployed and the necessary supporting configuration added to BCM. Please contact your NAGRA representative to request this.
-
A capability product for guest entitlements must have been created.
-
Guest entitlements must be enabled for the relevant editorial channels.
-
Guest entitlements must be enabled on the relevant product(s) that include the channels.
The product can be a single channel product or one that includes multiple channels.
See (23.24_Q2) Managing guest entitlements.
Use cases
There are four client-side use cases, which are explained in the following pages:
