Managing search engines

Overview

OpenTV Platform’s Search Facade enables the use of multiple search engines.

The following search engines can be enabled:

  • Platform’s built-in search

  • Personalised search, which takes into account the user’s viewing habits

  • A custom search engine

This allows:

  • Client applications to select the search engine to use for each search query

  • A rail that uses a search query to populate it with content to use a specified search engine

You can configure:

  • The search engines that can be used

  • The default search engine (that is, the one that will be used when a query or rail does not specify a search engine)

Enabling search engines

You can enable any or all of the above search engines. This happens at deployment or upgrade. Please contact your NAGRAVISION representative to discuss enabling different search engines.

Setting the default search engine

To set the default search engine, please contact your NAGRAVISION representative.
