To add content to a rail in Rails Builder:

Select the relevant template from the Template list.
Click on the relevant layout to display the rails.
In the rail you want to add content to, click Add Content.
Select the type of content you want to add (refer to the Content Types tables below for details).
Click to add the content to the rail.
Repeat step 3 to add additional rails sections to the rail.
Click Save Unsaved Changes.
Click Continue to save the rail.

A rail can contain just one type of content or multiple types of content (rails sections). Each time you click , a new section is added to the current rail.

Content Types

Catalogue

Enables you to populate the rail/section with catalogue content types, based on your selections:
Content	Individual VOD contents
Groups	Content groups	If you are adding series/season content group or a node that contains series and/or seasons, you can choose to collapse or expand them: If you collapse them, they are added and presented as series/seasons, and not as the individual episodes that comprise them. If you expand them, they are added and presented as individual episodes. (Series/season content groups are collapsed by default. Series/seasons in nodes are expanded by default.) To select whether to collapse or expand series/seasons, click Edit Properties for the node/content group in the right pane when adding or editing content to a rail and select or deselect Collapse Series as required.

Live events	Individual live events
Channels	Broadcast channels

Personalised

User Specific Enables you to populate the rail/section with user-specific content types, based on your selections:
Continue Watching	Content that the user has started watching but not finished
My List	VOD content or channels that the user has favourited
Favourite Type	The type of favourites to display in the section: VOD or channel
Network Recordings	Content that the user has recorded
Recently Watched	Content that the user has recently finished watching
User Purchased TVOD	Transactional VOD (TVOD) items that the user has purchased. Can be sorted by expiry date or purchase date
User Purchased PPV	Pay-per-view events that the user has purchased. Can be sorted by expiry date or purchase date
User Subscribed Channels	Broadcast channels that the user is subscribed to

Recommendations Enables you to populate the rail/section with content from the configured recommendations engine, based on your selections:
Recommendation Context	The recommendation context determines the type of content that will populate the rail section. There is a large selection of default contexts provided by NAGRAVISION, each of which has its own specific options that are displayed after you select the context. These contexts include: Time-based contexts, such as New Release and Trending Now Personalised contexts, such as User’s Top Picks and Live Tonight, both of which are based on the user’s viewing history Live/time-sensitive contexts, such as Currently Airing and Upcoming Live Sports & Events Mood-based contexts, such as Short and Easy Watches Node-based contexts, which limits recommendations to content from the specified node Legacy contexts In addition to the default contexts provided, you can create your own contexts to meet your own requirements. For example, you could set up contexts for: Content from a particular provider (e.g., Amazon Prime) Content in a specified price range (e.g., content that is less than €5) Content that is free with ads

Recommendations
Enables you to populate the rail/section with content from the configured recommendations engine, based on your selections:

Recommendation Context

The recommendation context determines the type of content that will populate the rail section.

There is a large selection of default contexts provided by NAGRAVISION, each of which has its own specific options that are displayed after you select the context. These contexts include:

Time-based contexts, such as New Release and Trending Now
Personalised contexts, such as User’s Top Picks and Live Tonight, both of which are based on the user’s viewing history
Live/time-sensitive contexts, such as Currently Airing and Upcoming Live Sports & Events
Mood-based contexts, such as Short and Easy Watches
Node-based contexts, which limits recommendations to content from the specified node
Legacy contexts

In addition to the default contexts provided, you can create your own contexts to meet your own requirements.

For example, you could set up contexts for:

Content from a particular provider (e.g., Amazon Prime)
Content in a specified price range (e.g., content that is less than €5)
Content that is free with ads

Search Enables you to populate the rail/section with content from a search, based on your selections:
Engine	The search engine to use
Query	The search term to use
Provider	The content provider to search within
Only Playable	Return only playable content
Genre	The content genre
Actor	Only show content starring the actor
Number of items	Number of content items to include in the rail

Custom

Enables you to populate the rail/section with content from an external source or determined by a blueprint, based on your selections:
Key Value Pair Section	Enables you to add a rail or rail section that uses a blueprint to determine the content. For example, the `PromotionalBanner` blueprint allows you to add a promotional banner rail/section (see Add a promotional banner rail to a layout).
Pre-Curated Section	Enables you to define a rail or rails section that is populated with content from an external source. Here, select: External Providers – select the external provider. See External providers. Content List – select the content list that determined the content that will populate the rail/section. See External providers. Number of items – the number of items that the rail/section should contain Select an Action Type – select whether to play the content or go to the media card for the content if the user taps on the item. Image Type – select the image type for the items in the rail.
Custom components	Any additional options here are custom components – see Custom component blueprint configuration.
