OpenTV Platform allows you to change the airing times of an event. For example, if a soccer match goes to extra time, the actual airing times of subsequent shows will be affected.
Updating the airing times of the affected events means that:

Start-over and catch-up will use the correct timestamps to access the events in the rolling buffer.

User recordings will record the events at the correct time.
If an event is re-ingested (for example, in a daily EPG ingest) and the metadata provider uses the same event ID as the existing event, its airing time is preserved.
However, if the metadata provider uses a different ID for the same event, CPM only persists the new event and the previous version is deleted, losing any changes that have been made to the event’s airing time (and any other manual changes).
